Espressy was an innovative new social networking site focused on personal expression through link sharing and broadcasting. Espressy is currently unavailable as the project's founders pursue other endeavors.

Ruby on Rails Programming

I coded Espressy's Ruby on Rails, database-driven backend, and worked with Tensegrity Development to implement another designer's work in CSS and HTML; the site also used JavaScript and AJAX for a slicker browsing experience where appropriate. Some features include:

• User accounts, logins, and profiles
• User friendships and social networking features
• Subscriptions to other users' posts (displayed on a subscription page)
• Link posts, featuring users' descriptions of external sites and automatically generated thumbnails
• Comments on user profiles
• Discussion posts, where users post a question or prompt in one of a handful of categories
• Comments on links and discussions
• A voting system for users to rate the posted links and discussions
• A "points" system indicating users' level of involvement with the site
• Filters and search enabling users to find posts and users that matched their interests
• User photo galleries, with comments
